Jakarta's culinary is keep developing, especially in this past view year. Our young generation keep inventing new cafe ideas in the most creative and interesting way. Now, everywhere in Jakarta you can see this various hip cafe among the street, I think it is because nowadays people can interacted with each other and sharing information through social media. It is becoming their main medium to make a successful culinary business.
Northpole Cafe
Northpole Cafe offers you with different types of ice cream starting from the regular creamy ice cream to the sorbet version, they even sell the alcohol version of the ice cream as well. The cafe seems so spacious with the wide glasses around the entrance that is a good place for people to take a picture of their ice creams. The cafe has elongated space to the back as walk in.
Smoky Pan is one of Northpole signature menu, there are six different type of ice cream on top of a pan with smoke coming out from it. It is actually dried ices poured with water to create that smoky effect on the bottom of the ice cream, it is needed to keep the ice cream cold as well. Those ice cream are not the most often flavor you can taste usually, I can taste a black sesame flavor and chai tea flavor in one of their ice cream. Then you can topped them up with cereal sprinkles and crumbles to accompany your ice cream.

Union Deli
Union Deli is basically Union group with smaller and fewer food choices. The was just recently opened at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town East Mall and they also have one more group member, Benedict, which also just recently opened in the beginning of this year. The Deli atmosphere looks like those New York style cafe with hanging pictures of famous artist, mostly from Broadway.
For the appetizer I ordered the Oriental Salad, it is a mix of vegetables and chicken katsu on top with citrus dressing. It is a refreshing appetizer and I guess the freshness might came from the mandarin orange, which makes this salad bright, light, and of course oriental.
The main dish is the Bagel with Smoked Salmon, the cream cheese will always complement a perfect bagel. They served the bagel with chips as well. I also ordered Crispy Chicken Wings, which could be a perfect sharing meal.
For the dessert, it is a Ovomaltine Pudding. Ovomaltine jam becoming really famous now at the culinary industry, they use it for various type of dessert to make it more interesting for the youth market. Overall, this Union Deli experience is really nice and it is a perfect place to hang out and socialize with friends for lunch time.

Hong Tang
Hong Tang is a dessert place that offers Taiwanese dessert. The most often elements are the grass jelly, tapioca balls, mochi, red bean, and many more usually served on top of flavored shaved ice. You can also choose your toppings as you like and you can serve it hot or cold.
The place is not that spacious, it is a small dessert shack in Gandaria City. The first Hong Tang is originally located in Pantai Indah Kapuk, and then the they expanded to Central and South Jakarta. I ordered the bento styled set, the components are the chocolate jelly on top of taro shaved ice, mochi with crushed peanut feelings, tapioca balls, mochi gems, red bean, and nata de coco. It is a perfect set if you want to try the different variety that Hong Tang offers. The price range is affordable as well, it is under Rp 100.00,- per meal.
