We have to be proud as Asians, especially because of our diverse culture in style, language, and the most important our culinary. Asia have the varied spices and well known for its unique culinary taste. In this article, Asian theme is selected despite of the Chinese Lunar New Year. I have been visiting several Asian cuisine restaurant around Jakarta in this past few weeks to see if are there any must-try Asian dishes in town.
Fook Yew
Fook Yew is one of Ismaya Dining's Asian themed restaurant and it is quit well-known in the city especially with their oriental atmosphere of the restaurant that brings you to Shanghai street. One of their signature dishes are their the Six Sense Xiao Long Pao. It is very interesting because every bite you take has their own flavor, which give you the element of surprise and fun at the same time.
Asia has a lot of variety when it comes to fried rice, since Fook Yew is a Chinese bistro I ordered this Salted Fried Rice. Its savory taste came from the sprinkle of salted fish, the taste is actually really oriental and on-street food. The approximate price for two people is Rp 200.000,-

Umabo
Umabo is a Japanese restaurant that serve us with variety of Japanes rice bowl, noodle, burger, and many other lunch type menu. Umabo stands for Umami Bowl, "Umami" means delicious in Japanese. The restaurant is not that spacious and as you passed by the Wijaya road the restaurant seems small, although it is a very comfy place to have lunch at. It is also a modern tech restaurant, they use iPad for their menu and ordering medium for the customers.
For my main dish, I ordered the AOP Chicken Verde. It is a Japanese style pasta bowl with pesto paste and grilled chicken on top. The pesto paste is really refreshing since it is made with herbs and it combines really well with the dried chili sprinkles. There is also the Disco fries, relative to its name it is a very messy and vibrant-full french fries, it makes a perfect combination with the minced beef and melted cheese of top. The approximate price for two people is Rp 100.000,-

Tom Tom
Tom Tom is a modern Thai restaurant that just opened in Grand Indonesia recently. The restaurant atmosphere is minimalistic and urban street at night with the dull light around the restaurant creates a night time feels when we eat there.
As a typical Thai food, a must ordered meal is Tom Yum. It is a spicy broth soup with seafood and meatballs, for this dish there are noodles too to compliment the soup. I also ordered Pad Keprau Kai, basically it is a stir fried minced chicken with chili and basil leaves. This dish is really fragrant, I think it is from the herbs that added to it. It is really spicy too if you eat this without rice even though they give generous amount of the chicken, but the freshness of the basil really balanced up the spiciness of the chili. Overall it is really good when it comes to taste.
